Lisa Fleming, owner of Scrapbook Town LLC (www.scrapbooktown.com), recommends these tips in caring for your photo prints.
- She warns that many old photo albums are not photo-safe, those photos should be removed as soon as possible.
- If you want to label your photos, don't use regular pens and pencils because the ink or lead can damage the photo. There are pens designed specifically for labeling photos.
- Protect photos from heat, humidity and light. Don't store them in attics, garages or in direct sunlight.
- Store photos in containers that are acid-free and lignin-free. Use a photo case rather than envelopes or accordions.
