Storing Your Photo Prints

Lisa Fleming, owner of Scrapbook Town LLC (www.scrapbooktown.com), recommends these tips in caring for your photo prints.

  1. She warns that many old photo albums are not photo-safe, those photos should be removed as soon as possible.
  2. If you want to label your photos, don't use regular pens and pencils because the ink or lead can damage the photo. There are pens designed specifically for labeling photos.
  3. Protect photos from heat, humidity and light. Don't store them in attics, garages or in direct sunlight.
  4. Store photos in containers that are acid-free and lignin-free. Use a photo case rather than envelopes or accordions.
